TY - JOUR AB - Transesterification of vegetable oils with short-chain alcohols is used to produce biodiesel. In the present study, crude soybean oil was investigated on the basis of three principal variables, such as optimum reaction temperature (60 degrees C), the amount of catalyst concentration from 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5% and molar ratio of methanol 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:5 and 1:6, respectively affecting yield of biodiesel. Under optimum condition, at molar ratio 1:6 in the presence of 0.5% NaOH and 60 degrees C reaction temperature and 350 rpm approximately 99.1% biodiesel yield was obtained.
